Rafael Nadal eases past Richard Gasquet to continue French Open charge
Rafael Nadal has defeated France’s Richard Gasquet in straight sets to reach the French Open fourth round.
The world number one, who is hoping to win his 11th French Open, defeated his opponent 6-3 6-2 6-2.
Nadal had beaten Gasquet 15 times in a row before the world number 32 finally won in January.
But it was Nadal who went through comfortably, winning the opening five games on the way to the first set.
Nadal’s fine form continued into the second set, breaking twice to go 4-0 up and holding serve throughout.
It was same again in the third set as Nadal strolled to victory in just two hours.
Nadal will play world number 70 Maximilian Marterer in the next round.
