Sloane Stephens has reached her first French Open final after beating Madison Keys in straight sets.

The world number 10 triumphed against the world number 13 6-4 6-4 in 79 minutes.

Stephens, who beat Keys in the US Open final last year, broke in the third game of the opener and held serve throughout to take the lead.

The pair shared three breaks in the second set, and Stephens took control when she converted her fourth break point of the opening game.

Stephens furthered her lead when breaking for 5-2 but Keys hit straight back. With Keys needing to win the final two games, Stephens held serve to secure the victory.

The American will play world number one Simona Halep in the final on Saturday.
