Miami Open: Katie Boulter shocks Kristyna Pliskova to reach second round

Britain’s Katie Boulter has come from behind to defeat Kristyna Pliskova at the Miami Open.

The Czech took the first set but Boulter hit back to win 4-6 6-3 6-3.

World number 319 Boulter will play 17th ranked Elise Mertens in the second round.

Pliskova, who sits 241 ranks above her opponent, came from a break behind in the opener to take the lead but Boulter found her form and held serve throughout the final two sets on the way to victory.

With Pliskova serving to stay in the match, Boulter forced four match points before finally booking her place in the next round.

Cameron Norrie also progressed after a three-set win over Yoshihito Nishioka. Heather Watson meets Nina Stojanovic later in the evening.
