Birmingham through to T20 final after nail biter against Glamorgan

Birmingham Bears are through to the T20 Blast final after an 11-run win over Glamorgan.

Glamorgan needed 12 runs from the final three balls to chase down Birmingham’s score of 175-9 but Andrew Salter’s shot was caught by Adam Hose near the boundary to finish Glamorgan’s innings at 164.

Birmingham’s innings started quickly with opening batsmen Ed Pollock and Dominic Sibley scoring 50 and 27.

Captain Grant Elliott added 32 off 26 balls later in the innings with Colin de Grandhomme and Aaron Thomason scoring 30 and 17.

Craig Meschede’s bowling figures of 2-24 kept the Birmingham run rate down.

Low scores from the top-order batsmen proved to be Glamorgan’s undoing. Opener Jacques Rudolph did score 65 from 39 balls but he was the only one of the top six to score more than 11 runs.

Graham Wagg added 25 to pull Glamorgan back into the game but it was left to Salter. He hit a succession of boundaries but was caught by Hose at the death.

Birmingham will play either Hampshire or Nottinghamshire in the final this evening.
