World Cup Qualifying: Home nations win, Germany maintain 100% record

England, Scotland and Northern Ireland have all won in the World Cup qualifiers.

Northern Ireland will secure a play-off place if they draw against Czech Republic on Monday after a 3-0 win over San Marino.

In Group F, Scotland defeated Lithuania 3-0 and England beat Malta 4-0.

Group F

Adam Nemec’s 78th-minute goal gave Slovakia a 1-0 win over Slovenia.

That result does not suit either England or Scotland, with Slovakia sitting two points behind group leaders England and four points behind the Scots.

A late flurry of goals saw England beat Malta 4-0 while Scotland dominated throughout their 3-0 win in Lithuania.

Group C

Germany defeated Czech Republic 2-1 thanks to a late Mats Hummels goal.

Timo Werner opened the scoring early on but Vladimir Darida equalised with 12 minutes to spare. Hummels headed in in the 88th minute to win the game for Germany.

Northern Ireland’s victory over San Marino has put them seven points clear of third-placed Czech while Norway defeated Azerbaijan 2-0.

Group E

Denmark moved to within three points of the top of the group after thrashing group leaders Poland 4-0.

Christian Eriksen scored and got an assist with Thomas Delaney, Andreas Cornelius and Nicolai Jorgensen also hitting the net.

Montenegro are level on points with the Danes after a 3-0 win over Kazakhstan while Romania kept their slim play-off chances alive with a 1-0 win against Armenia.
