Australia are in the ascendancy after the first day of the Women’s Ashes test at Taunton.

England have to win the Test to stand any chance of regaining the Ashes trophy but Australia hit 265-3 to take complete control of the series.

Ellyse Perry top-scored with an unbeaten 84, with Rachael Haynes finishing the day on 54.

Meg Lanning was dropped by captain Heather Knight on 26 before eventually falling for 57.

A draw will be enough for Australia to win the series, after they were victorious in all three Twenty20 matches.
