Former England all-rounder Tim Bresnan announces retirement

Former England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has announced that his retirement from all forms of cricket.

The Warwickshire player was part of England’s 2010 T20 World Cup-winning squad and was an Ashes winner in 2011 and 2013. He appeared in 23 Test matches, 85 One-Day Internationals and 34 T20 internationals for his country.

Bresnan helped Warwickshire win the County Championship last season, having previously done so with Yorkshire in 2014 and 2015.

“Deep down, I feel I can’t reach the high standards that I set myself and my team-mates,” the 36-year-old said.

“This has been an incredibly tough decision, but after returning to winter training I feel that this is the right time.

“The opportunity to wear the Three Lions is something that should never be taken for granted and I’m proud to have played a very small part in our country’s storied history.”
