Emma Raducanu has reached the last-16 on her debut Wimbledon appearance after a straight-sets win over Sorana Cirstea.

The 18-year-old played far beyond her 338th world ranking to defeat the experienced Cirstea 6-3 7-5.

Raducanu will now play 75th-ranked Ajla Tomljanovic in the fourth round.

The wildcard announced herself on the professional stage earlier in the week when she became the final Brit left in the women’s singles and the tournament organisers responded by giving her a first match on Court 1.

That did not phase Raducanu though and she responded to the crowd by winning five games in a row from 3-1 down to take the opening set.

Raducanu continued playing some wonderful tennis into the second set and raced into a 3-0 lead before Cirstea broke back.

Cirstea saved five break points when 4-3 down but Raducanu held out to break in the final game and seal the win.
