St Mirren have lost on penalties to Lowland League side East Kilbride in the Scottish League Cup.

The result means that St Mirren sit two points behind Championship side Dunfermline Athletic in Group H with just one game remaining.

East Kilbride, one of two Lowland League teams in the competition, held St Mirren to a goalless draw before Danny Mullen and Cody Cooke missed from the penalty spot to give Kilby a bonus point.

It was an easier afternoon for Hibernian who defeated Alloa Athletic 2-0 after goals from Christian Doidge and Tom James.

The Hibees sit third in Group C but play group leaders Arbroath and second-placed Elgin City in their final two games.

Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle drew their all-Premiership match before Accies won the shootout.

Ryan Williamson’s opener was cancelled out by Ross Cunningham a minute later.

Cunningham added his second after the break to give Hamilton the lead but Shea Gordon equalised.

Raffaelle de Vita missed the crucial penalty and Hamilton took the extra point thanks to a 6-5 win.

Elsewhere, Stranraer thrashed Berwick Rangers 6-0, Inverness Caledonian Thistle eased past Raith Rovers 4-1 and Edinburgh City shocked Dunfermline Athletic to win 1-0.
