Marin Cilic eases past Steve Johnson at French Open

Marin Cilic is through to the fourth round of the French Open after a straight-sets victory over world number 46 Steve Johnson.

The third seed took just 97 minutes to claim the win, coming through 6-3 6-2 6-4.

Cilic won the opening three games of the first set on the way to taking the lead and broke twice in the second set to take complete control.

Johnson improved in the third set, holding serve four times in a row and saving a break point, but Cilic finally broke to make it 5-4 before serving out the match.

The Croatian will play Italy’s Fabio Fognini next after his five-set thriller against British number one Kyle Edmund earlier today.
