Celtic have increased their chances of qualifying for the Europa League knockout rounds with a win over Ferencvaros in Budapest.

The Glasgow side had to hold off a late fightback as goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota and Liel Abada was enough to claim all three points with a 3-2 win.

An unlucky Josip Juranovic own goal had earlier put Ferencvaros level before Myrto Uzuni’s 86th-minute strike set up a tense finish.

“Full credit to the boys. It was three great goals, I thought we could have had a couple more. I’m disappointed at conceding the second goal as I don’t think it was a true reflection of how we played tonight,” Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou told BT Sport.

“The fact we can get three goals away from home is because we just go at teams. I still think that is the way forward. It’s the kind of team we want to be and I think it’s the team our supporters want us to be.”

The win puts Celtic a point behind Real Betis after the Spanish side was thumped 4-0 by Bayer Leverkusen. Ferencvaros are now consigned to fourth place in Group G, meaning Celtic are guaranteed at least Europa Conference League football in the new year.

The second-placed team will go into the Europa League second round, while top of the group gets a bye to the round of 16.
