Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has joined Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr in a deal worth £23.6m.

The Spain international played 180 time for City since joining from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, but was limited to just 12 Premier League appearances last season.

Laporte left an emotional message on social media on Wednesday before the move to Saudi Arabia was announced a day later.

“I want to thank everyone who made this journey possible: the Man City board, the coaches and the whole staff, every single teammate I shared the dressing room with, and of course all of you,” Laporte said.

“It was an honor and a pleasure to wear these colors, and I hope you will remember me in a good way for this.

“Thank you again for everything. I wish you the best of luck for the future and I will always keep an eye on you guys.”

Laporte joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles and Seko Fofana at Al Nassr as the controversial Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund continue to invest in the country’s top division.
