Wasps secure play-off place with victory over Northampton

Wasps have guaranteed an Aviva Premiership play-off place after a bonus-point win over Northampton Saints.

The 36-29 win sees Wasps move up to third, eight points clear of fifth-placed Leicester Tigers.

Wasps opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Christian Wade before Teimana Harrison levelled.

Elliot Daly’s try restored Wasps lead before Api Ratuniyarawa crossed for Northampton.

Wasps took a 21-17 lead into halftime thanks to the boot of Jimmy Gopperth.

Wade extended Wasps’ lead before Juan de Jongh secured the bonus point.

Northampton pulled a try back eight minutes from time through Alex Mitchell and came to within four points of their opponent with a late try.
