Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has joined Lyon on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old became Spurs’ record signing when he joined from the Ligue 1 club for £55m in the summer of 2019 but has fallen out of favour recently.

Lyon will pay an initial £1.2m loan fee and could make the transfer permanent for a fee of £54m in the summer.

“Tanguy Ndombele has joined Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais on loan until the end of the season,” Spurs said in a statement.

“The central midfielder returns to the club from which he joined us in July, 2019.

“He has made 91 appearances for us in all competitions to date, scoring 10 goals.”

Ndombele has made 16 appearances for Spurs this season but has not played since their 3-1 FA Cup win over Morecambe on January 9.
