Steven Gerrard is set to be offered the Rangers manager’s job, according to reports.

The Glasgow club have made contact with the former Liverpool captain and have made him their leading candidate, with Gary McAllister possibly coming in as Gerrard’s assistant.

The 37-year-old has been in charge of Liverpool’s Under-19 team since 2017 and could take over at the end of the season.

“I am not worried,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told reporters.

“Whatever he wants to do we will support him in that. There is no decision. I can imagine clubs are interested in signing Stevie, [he has] massive experience as a player so I would think about him signing for a club. We will support him in all directions.”

Rangers currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership table and face rivals Celtic on Sunday.
