Sir Alex Ferguson undergoes emergency surgery after brain haemorrhage

Sir Alex Ferguson has had emergency surgery on a brain haemorrhage.

Reports emerged that the former Manchester United manager had been rushed to hospital, with further news being released that surgery on a brain haemorrhage has gone well.

A Manchester United statement read: “Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage. The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery.

His family request privacy in this matter.”

It is believed that Ferguson was taken to hospital near his Cheshire home yesterday before being transferred to Salford Royal hospital today.
