Glasgow Warriors have kept their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions Cup alive after a bonus-point win over Benetton.

The 46-25 victory puts Glasgow five points clear of the Dragons, but the Welsh side will claim fourth spot if they beat Edinburgh by 45 points and secure a bonus point on Sunday.

Neither side will know their European plans for next season yet though, with European Rugby still to make a decision on the format of both the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup.

Glasgow raced into a 6-0 win within the opening 13 minutes with two Ross Thompson penalties but Gianmarco Lucchesi pulled five points back when he went over.

Fotu Lokotui extended Glasgow’s lead once again and Nick Grigg ensured that Glasgow would take a 20-5 lead into half-time.

Benetton hit back with 10 quick points, a Riccardo Favretto try and an Edoardo Padovani penalty, to come back into the game but Nicola Matawalu, George Horne, TJ Ioane and Johnny Matthews went over as Glasgow eventually eased to victory.

Marco Zanon and Corniel Els also touched down in the second half to give Benetton a bonus point.
