Manchester City hit four at West Ham United

Premier League champions Manchester City have eased past West Ham United 4-1 at the London Stadium.

Goals from Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho added to a Pablo Zabaleta own goal as Man City outclassed their opponents.

Aaron Cresswell pulled a goal back before the break but City extended their lead in the second half.

Sane opened the scoring after 12 minutes when his 20-yarder deflected in off Patrice Evra.

A defensive mix-up led to City’s second. Adrian fumbled a Raheem Sterling cross and the ball deflected off Zabaleta into the net.

West Ham caused problems for a brief period before halftime. Marko Arnautovic saw a goal disallowed after bundling Ederson over, but Cresswell did pull a goal back in the 42nd minute when he curled a free kick into the near post.

Jesus doubled City’s lead after the restart when he picked up Sterling’s through-ball to roll past Adrian.

Fernandinho struck City’s fourth in the 63rd minute after exchanging passes with Sterling.

The result sees City’s lead stretch to 19 points, while West Ham remain three points above the relegation zone.
