Lawrence Okolie has successfully defended his WBO Continental title with an easy win over Argentina’s Mariano Angel Gudino.

The British boxer had Gudino on the floor six times before the fight was stopped in the seventh round.

Okolie dominated the fight from the opening bell and Gudino, who took on the fight at short notice, failed to make an impact.

Gudino went down for the first time in the third round from Okolie’s right hand and another right to the body hurt the 31-year-old at the end of the fourth round.

Two more knockdowns came in the fifth, and Gudino was down again in the sixth but still no stoppage came.

Okolie kept looking for the finisher and it came in the seventh round. Gudino went down at the start of the round but managed to continue. A right to the hand hit towards the end of the round, though, and this time the referee intervened to stop the fight.

The 26-year-old remains unbeaten and also holds the British cruiserweight title.
