Late Sergio Aguero winner gives Manchester City first-leg lead over Bristol City

Sergio Aguero’s stoppage-time header has given Manchester City a 2-1 win against Championship side Bristol City in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Bobby Reid gave Bristol City the lead on the verge of half-time before Kevin de Bruyne levelled the score.

Aguero found space at late on to give the advantage to Manchester City.

Man City attacked from the off and Bernardo Silva should have opened the scoring but his shot went over the bar.

Frank Fielding did brilliantly to keep City at bay in the 25th minute. First, he parried Leroy Sane’s effort before leaping high to tip over De Bruyne’s shot from the rebound.

Reid gave Bristol City the lead in the 44th minute, striking the penalty hard into the bottom corner after John Stones brought down the striker.

De Bruyne levelled the score 10 minutes after the restart, finishing into the right side of the net from 15 yards after combining with Raheem Sterling.

Manchester City continued to attack and should have been in front when De Bruyne sent a cross towards Sterling. His shot went straight at Fielding from point-blank range.
