Antonio Conte has reportedly been offered an 18-month contract to take over as Tottenham manager.

The former Chelsea man looks likely to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked earlier on Monday after just four months in charge.

Conte is currently unemployed after leaving Inter Milan in the summer, despite leading them to the Serie A title last season.

Nuno started brightly at Spurs, winning his opening three Premier League matches, but the North London club have lost five of their last seven games and have slipped to eighth in the Premier League table.

“I regret that we have had to take this decision,” said managing director of football Fabio Paratici.

“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed.

“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

Conte won the Premier League and FA Cup at Chelsea but was sacked in the summer of 2018 after missing out on Champions League qualification.
