Masters: Judd Trump battles past Liang Wenbo, Ryan Day defeats Ding Junhui
Judd Trump and Ryan Day have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Masters after wins against Liang Wenbo and Ding Junhui respectively.
Trump raced into a 5-1 lead against Liang, who responded by winning three successive frames and shooting a tournament-high break of 139.
The Englishman won the next frame with a break of 89 to claim a 6-3 victory and set up a quarter-final tie against Shaun Murphy or Ali Carter.
In the earlier session, Day needed to come from 3-0 down to defeat fourth seed Ding 6-4.
The Welshman levelled before taking the lead after Ding struggled to deal with a snooker. Ding then touched the blue ball with a rest in the next frame to allow Day to clear the table and take a 5-3 lead.
Ding hit back with 100, but Day took the next frame to claim victory.
He will face John Higgins or Anthony McGill in the quarter-final.
