Manchester United have cancelled their sponsorship deal with Russian airline Aeroflot following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

Aeroflot had been United’s “official carrier” since 2013 and the club regularly used the airline to travel to European away games.

The latest deal was worth £40m and was due to expire in 2023.

“In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights,” United said in a statement.

“We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected.”

Aeroflot was banned from flying to the UK on Thursday after the UK Government banned all Russian airlines from British airspace.

Russia responded by banning all British airlines from Russian airspace a day later.
