Kei Nishikori through to Wimbledon quarter-final with win over Mikhail Kukushkin

Kei Nishikori has booked his place in the Wimbledon quarter-final with a four-set win over world number 58 Mikhail Kukushkin.

The Japanese needed two hours and 46 minutes to beat his opponent 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4.

Nishikori saved a break point and held serve throughout the first, but Kukushkin struck back in the second when he broke late on before saving two break points in the final game of the set.

Eighth-seed Nishikori took the next two sets though, breaking at 4-3 before serving out the third set.

The first five games of the fourth set went against serve but Nishikori held from there on out to claim victory.

He will play Roger Federer in the quarter-final after the Swiss defeated Italy’s Matteo Berrettini.
