England take huge step towards T20 World Cup semi with win over Sri Lanka

England look set to qualify for the T20 World Cup semi-final after continuing their winning run against Sri Lanka.

Jos Buttler’s superb 101 not out led England to a 26-run win while Moeen Ali posted bowling figures of 2-15 as England bowled Sri Lanka out for 137.

Buttler remained for the entire England innings and hit six sixes and six fours on the way to a superb century.

Captain Eoin Morgan helped out with 40 as England gave Sri Lanka a target of 164.

England won comfortably in the end. Morgan run out Pathum Nissanka as Sri Lanka slipped to 1-1.

Adil Rashid then took two successive wickets to put England in control.

A spate of five wickets in the final in the space of 14 balls brought England to victory.

Jason Roy’s brilliant fielding was the pick of them, diving near the boundary to tip the ball to Sam Billings to take the catch to dismiss Wanindu Hasaranga.

Buttler excelled as wicket-keeper as well with a superb run out of Dasun Shanaka.

England face South Africa in their final group game on Saturday afternoon.
