Elite League: Late goal gives Fife Flyers win over Milton Keynes

A last-minute goal from Carlo Finucci has given Fife Flyers a 4-3 win over Milton Keynes Lightning in the Elite League.

The victory means that the Flyers cement their position in the top four, with Lightning cut adrift by seven points at the bottom of the table.

Four goals were shared in the first stanza. Ivan Sijan gave Lightning the lead on the powerplay before Flyers took advantage to level on the man advantage through Paul Crowder.

Georgs Golovkovs gave Lightning the lead once again on 17:42 but Jordan Buesa replied just 26 seconds later.

Radek Meidl netted early in the second period as Lightning regained the lead for the first time, but Evan Bloodoff’s powerplay goal levelled the scored after 3:08 of the third period.

Finucci, who had notched two assists earlier in the night, netted shorthanded with 39 seconds remaining to secure the win for Fife.
