Women’s Champions League: Chelsea through but Manchester City out

Chelsea are through to the Women’s Champions League semi-finals after a 5-1 aggregate win over Wolfsburg.

The Blues had taken a one-goal lead into the second leg and dominated the second leg in Budapest to win 3-0 on the night.

Pernille Harder’s penalty opened the scoring before Sam Kerr doubled the lead before halftime.

Fran Kirby completed the scoring nine minutes from time to put the result beyond doubt.

For Manchester City, a 2-1 second-leg win over Barcelona was not enough to see them through.

They needed to overcome a three-goal deficit from the first leg and got off to a superb start when Janine Beckie struck in the 20th minute.

Barcelona hit back through Asisat Oshoala though and Sam Mewis’s penalty was not enough for City.

Bayern Munich will take a 3-0 lead into their second leg against Rosengard tomorrow, while Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to overturn a one-goal deficit in their second leg against Lyon on April 18th.
