Tour de France: Daryl Impey wins stage nine, Julian Alaphilippe retains yellow jersey

Mitchelton-Scott rider Daryl Impey won stage nine of the Tour de France after finishing the 170km Saint-Etienne-Brioude stage in 4:03:12.

Impey edged out Lotto-Soudal’s Tiesj Benoot to claim his first stage win of this year’s Tour.

Julian Alaphilippe has retained the yellow jersey and stays 23 seconds ahead of Giulio Ciccone.

Reigning champion Geraint Thomas stays in fifth but is 72 seconds off the pace after crashing on Saturday.

The Tour resumes on Monday with the 217km Saint-Flour to Albi flat stage.
