Johanna Konta saved three match points, before defeating China’s Yafan Wang in the opening round of the Morocco Open.

After losing the opening set 4-6, the British number one went 0-40 down at 5-6 but bounced back before winning the tie-break to force a decider.

The world number 47 had to come from a break down in the third but broke her opponent three times in a row to progress.

She will play world number 132 Ana Bogdan in the second round.

In the opening round of the Munich Open, Kyle Edmund’s poor start to the clay court season continued with his third successive defeat.

World number 82 Denis Kudla needed just 70 minutes to progress with Edmund never threatening to break serve.

The American broke serve in the opening game to stroll towards the opening set and continued to dominate on the way to a 6-4 6-3 victory.
