Castleford Tigers and Hull FC have won their opening games of the Super League seasons after beating Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants respectively.

In the day’s early kick-off, a dominant first-half performance laid the foundations for Hull FC to defeat Huddersfield 22-10.

Jake Connor and Josh Griffin both scored tries inside the opening 20 minutes as Hull FC took a 12-0 lead into the break.

Marc Sneyd’s penalty extended the lead shortly after the restart before Huddersfield’s Kenny Edwards was sent to the sin-bin.

Huddersfield were able to keep Hull FC at bay while they were a man down, but Hull FC eventually continued their dominance when Josh Reynolds raced onto a grubber kick under the posts.

Sneyd made it 22-0 with his second penalty of the match before Huddersfield finally got some points on the board. Ricky Leutele and James Gavet crossed in the final 12 minutes but it was too little to late for Huddersfield.

Castleford joined Hull FC as opening weekend victors with a 21-12 win over Warrington.

Both teams scored tries in the opening seven minutes with Oliver Holmes opening the scoring for Castleford before Tom King responded.

Castleford took control towards the end of the first half though and Niall Evalds and Jordan Turner gave them a 14-4 lead at the break.

Tries from Daryl Clark and Blake Austin were not enough to pull Warrington back into the game after a second Turner try and a Paul McShane penalty had extended Castleford’s lead.
