Bottom-of-the-table London Broncos have stunned Super League leaders St Helens to gain a crucial win in their battle against relegation.

Saints had only lost two games all season but London put in their best performance of the season to win 32-12 and move level on points with Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos.

St Helens were expected to steamroller London before the game but nothing went to plan for the six-time champions.

Matty Fleming went over to give London the lead after 11th minute before Aaron Smith levelled the score.

Luke Yates scored before half time and a Kieran Dixon penalty stretched London’s lead.

Danny Richardson pulled a try back after the break but Alex Walker, Jordan Abdull and Matt Fleming all scored late on to secure an unexpected victory for London.

Elsewhere, a Marc Sneyd penalty was the only thing that separated the sides as Hull FC scraped past Leeds 26-24.

Two second-half tries from Tom Briscoe and one from Ash Handley had put Leeds ahead but Ratu Naulago went over late on for Hull to snatch the win.

Salford Red Devils ran in seven tries on the way to a 40-14 win over Catalans Dragons and Castleford Tigers recorded a 27-18 win over second-placed Warrington Wolves.
