Ross County have been relegated from the Scottish Premiership after drawing with St Johnstone.

The Dingwall club drew 1-1 but needed to better Partick Thistle’s result. Partick won 1-0 at Dundee to escape automatic relegation by two points.

Partick still need to beat Livingston, who qualified for the Scottish Premiership play-off final by beating Dundee United, over two legs next week.

Craig Curran gave County the lead at St Johnstone in the third minute and dominated the possession for the rest of the afternoon but David Wotherspoon struck late on to confirm County’s relegation.

That early goal meant Partick Thistle were heading to the Championship for most of the afternoon, but Kris Doolan struck with 27 minutes remaining to save their status as a Premiership club.

In the Lanarkshire derby, Motherwell defeated Hamilton Academical 3-0.

Nadir Ciftci opened the scoring on the half-hour mark and added a second in the 70th minute. Tommy Aldred completed the scoring three minutes later to secure Motherwell a seventh-place finish.

The top six finish their Premiership season tomorrow, with Celtic hosting Aberdeen, Hibernian meeting Rangers and Kilmarnock playing Heart of Midlothian.
