Serena Williams is through to her 11th Wimbledon final after defeating Barbora Strycova in straight sets.

Simona Halep is all that stands in the way of a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam after the Romanian beat Elina Svitolina earlier in the afternoon.

Williams needed just 59 minutes to despatch world number 54 Strycova 6-1 6-2.

A rampant Williams took full advantage of an early injury to Strycova to win five successive games on the way to the first set.

Her dominance continued into the second set too. A series of superb passing shots exploited Strycova’s serve-and-volley style as she broke twice in quick succession to complete the win.
