Scottish League Cup: Dundee held by Cove, Dunfermline in huge win

Scottish Championship side Dundee needed a penalty shoot-out win after being held by SPFL newcomers Cove Rangers.

The two points was enough for Dundee to move to the top of
Group D on goal difference with Cove picking up their first point of the campaign.

Dundee eventually prevailed when Paul McGowan scored the winning penalty to win the shootout 3-2.

Dunfermline took a huge step towards a place in the second round by thrashing Albion Rovers 6-0.

A Kevin Nisbet hat-trick led the Pars to a three-point lead at the top of Group H.

Elsewhere, Hamilton Academical kickstarted their League Cup campaign by beating Clyde 3-1, Arbroath thrashed Stirling Albion 6-1 and St Mirren and a late Oan Djorkaeff goal gave St Mirren a 1-0 win over Edinburgh City.
