Scottish League Cup: Celtic, Hibernian in huge wins

Celtic, Hibernian, Partick Thistle and Livingston have progressed to the third round of the Scottish League Cup.

Leigh Griffiths has now scored four goals in two games, helping Celtic towards a 5-0 win over Kilmarnock.

The striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot before youngster Anthony Ralston scored his first goal for the club.

Griffiths netted again to put Celtic into a three-goal lead after 29 minutes before Kieran Tierney and Stuart Armstrong added two more in the second half.

It was an equally profitable night for Hibernian, who beat Ayr United 5-0.

Anthony Stokes scored twice on his first start since returning to the club and Simon Murray scored his second goal in as many games before half time.

Efe Ambrose and Deivydas Matulevicius put the icing on the cake in the last 20 minutes.

Partick Thistle also eased through with three second-half goals to beat St Johnstone.

Simon Lawless scored from the penalty spot before Ryan Edwards and Chris Erskine completed the scoring.

Livingston’s game against Falkirk was the only one of the evening to go to extra time.

Raffaele de Vita sent Livi through with a goal in the 101st minute after Scott Robinson’s goal had been cancelled out by James Craigen.
