Saracens thrash Northampton Saints to keep Champions Cup hopes alive

Saracens thumped fellow Aviva Premiership side Northampton Saints 62-14 in the final group game of the European Rugby Champions Cup.

The bonus-point win gives Saracens a chance of progressing to the quarter-final as one of the three best runners-up but will have to wait for other results.

Owen Farrell was superb with the boot all afternoon, scoring five penalties and converting five out of Saracens’ six tries to lead his team to victory.

Saracens steamrolled Saints with 26 points in the second half. Sean Maitland and Sione Vailanu scored tries with 16 points coming off the boot of Farrell.
