Sam Allardyce will leave Everton in the next 24 hours, according to reports.

Former Watford manager Marco Silva is Everton’s preferred replacement and Allardyce will be told that his six-month stay at the club will end in a meeting with chairman Farhad Moshiri on Wednesday.

Everton tried to bring Silva to the club last November but Watford rejected an approach worth £12m.

Silva was then sacked in January, with Watford citing an “unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival” that caused “significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised”.

Allardyce guided Everton to eighth in the Premier League this season and lost just nine of 26 games in charge.
