Sale Sharks exit Challenge Cup after Toulouse loss
Sale Sharks have been knocked out of the European Rugby Challenge Cup after a 21-28 loss to Toulouse.
The Aviva Premiership finished as runners-up in Group 2 but failed to gain one of the three runners-up places in the quarter-final.
Toulouse went 14 points up through tries from Maks van Dyk and David Roumieu before Marland Yarde pulled a try back before halftime.
Julien Marchand came off the bench to add a third Toulouse try but scores from Sam James and Josh Beaumont drew Sale level.
A late Toulouse try earned the points for the French side, who also exit the competition after finishing in fourth.
