A crucial game pulled Pella back into the match. After five deuces, and at his sixth break point, Pella levelled at 4-4.

Another lengthy game saw Pella save four break points to lead for the first time but the Argentine then needed the trainer to treat a finger injury.

That seemed to have a huge effect on Pella at a crucial time. Bautista Agut held to love to bring the score to 5-5 and then broke his opponent before another love game sealed the set.
