Rafael Nadal has come from behind to beat world number 12 Diego Schwartzman in the French Open quarter-final.

The world number one had not lost a set at Roland Garros since 2015 before Schwartzman took the opener, but Nadal eventually prevailed 4-6 6-3 6-2 6-2.

Schwartzman was a set and a break up before rain struck yesterday, but Nadal regrouped and produced a dominant performance on Thursday morning to secure progress.

Nadal started the morning perfectly to serve out the second set and lost just three more games on the way to victory.

The Spaniard broke early in the third and made it 4-1 before taking the set.

Nadal showed his supremacy in the fourth set, racing into a 5-1 lead. Schwartzman then saved a match point in a nine-minute-long game eight and eventually won out after five deuces.

Schwartzman saved two match points in the next but failed to convert three break points as Nadal secured a semi-final place against Marin Cilic or Juan Martin Del Potro.
