Two late Maxime Machenaud penalties have given Racing 92 a 34-30 win over Munster in the European Rugby Champions Cup.

Yannick Nganga and Jean Kleyn traded tries in the first half, with Machenaud’s six points with the boot separating the teams at halftime.

Marc Andreu crossed shortly after the break to extend Racing’s lead but a Keith Earls try was quickly followed by a Chris Farrell score to give Newcastle the lead for the first time.

Machenaud added three more points, with Ian Keatley responding to put the ball through the posts twice in seven minutes.

A Dimitri Szarzewski try saw Racing regain the lead but Munster went two points clear with just five minutes remaining after another penalty.

The Irish side could not hang on though. Two penalties, in the 76th and 78th minute, sealed the victory for Racing 92.
