Adam Peaty sets two 50m world records in one day

Great Britain’s Adam Peaty has set a new 50m breaststroke world record for the second time in one day.

Peaty won the World Aquatics Championships semi-final in 25.95 seconds to become the first swimmer to complete the distance in under 26 seconds.

The 22-year-old had set a world-record time of 26.10 seconds earlier in the day.

“I honestly can’t believe it. I can’t even think. I just went out there and did what I do,” Peaty told BBC Sport.

“The hard work has gone on in the gym. I am looking for areas of where I can improve and hopefully get down to mid-25.”

The reigning champion won the 100m breaststroke gold yesterday and will compete in the 50m final tomorrow (Wednesday).
