One-Day Cup: Worcestershire top North Group, Yorkshire qualify for quarter-final

Worcestershire have finished top of the One-Day Cup North Group after beating Warwickshire by one wicket.

They will receive direct entry into the semi-final of the competition with South Group winners Hampshire.

Yorkshire have also qualified by finishing third and will face an away quarter-final against Essex in the quarter-final.

Earlier in the day, Nottinghamshire thrashed Derbyshire to take the runners-up spot and secure a home quarter-final against Kent.

Worcestershire chased down a target of 293 to defeat Warwickshire in 45.4 overs. Moeen Ali’s brilliant 114 and Ben Cox’s 80 led them to victory, with Tim Ambrose topscoring for Warwickshire with 75.

Yorkshire also completed a successful run chase, with Northants setting a target of 241. David Willey hit a knock of 71 with Gary Ballance adding 66.

In the final game of the day, Leicestershire moved off the foot of the table by beating Durham. Ryan Davies remained on 61 when Durham were bowled out for 240 but Cameron Delport’s 122 and Colin Ackermann’s half-century led Leicestershire to victory.

The quarter-final ties will be played on Thursday, June 14.
