One-Day Cup: Derbyshire score 357, Leicestershire batter Northants

Derbyshire scored a huge 357 runs on the opening day of the One-Day Cup as they beat Warwickshire by 57 runs.

Captain Billy Godleman led his team superbly with 137 with Ben Slater adding 69 and Wayne Madsen scoring 58.

Sam Hain top-scored for Warwickshire with 108 runs and Keith Barker helped the team late on with 48 but the match came to an end when the team were all out for 300 after 45.3 overs.

Leicestershire dismissed Northamptonshire in just 38.2 overs on the way to a convincing victory.

Josh Cobb top-scored for Northants with 56 but five players were limited to single figures on the way to 193 all out.

Earlier, Leicestershire had set a target of 266, with Paul Horton’s 103 highlighting their dominance.

The final match in the North Group saw Nottinghamshire defeat Lancashire by nine runs.

Consistency was the key for Notts with captain Steven Mullaney (70), Ross Taylor (58), Chris Nash (53) and Tom Moores (47) helping the team towards a total of 318.

Lancashire fell just short of the target though, despite Keaton Jennings’ 136.

In the South Group, Essex beat Middlesex with more than seven overs to spare.

Tom Westley topscored for Essex with 134 on the way to a six-wicket victory after limiting Middlesex to just one half-century from Nick Gubbins.

Sussex needed just 39.5 overs to despatch Kent by seven wickets.

Ben Brown (73 not out) and Luke Wells (62) built up a good partnership as the Hove club eased to victory.

Daniel Bell-Drummond (90) and Alex Blake (29) were the only players to reach double figures for Kent, who were all out for 188.
