Nottinghamshire needed less than 12 overs to defeat Derbyshire before the end of the first session in the final group game of the One-Day Cup.

Derbyshire were abysmal with both bat and ball, running up a run rate of just 3.14 on the way to 110 all out. Notts took just 11.5 overs to reach the target with just 47 overs bowled between the two sides.

Wayne Madsen (37), Matt Critchley (33) and Daryn Smit (11) were the only Derbyshire batsman to hit more than five runs with Alex Hughes and Ravi Rampaul both dismissed for ducks.

Derbyshire simply could not cope with the bowling of Jake Ball (4-29) and Matthew Carter (3-19).

Notts were all but guaranteed victory before they even took the field for the second innings but they impressed even further, thumping 9.71 runs per over to make sure that the match would be over in double-quick time.

Riki Wessels hit a knock of 63 off 34 balls and Tom Moores added 41, including a six to see out the innings.

Notts will likely finish second in the group, guaranteeing a home quarter-final, unless Warwickshire’s match against Worcestershire ends in a draw.
