Masters: O’Sullivan thrashed by Allen, Wilson thumps Williams

Ronnie O’Sullivan has been knocked out of the Masters after losing 6-1 to Mark Allen.

The reigning champion had been suffering with an illness during his 6-0 win over Marco Fu and symptoms persisted during today’s match.

“I was feeling 60% and was hoping Mark would make some mistakes,” O’Sullivan told BBC Sport.

“I didn’t feel good enough physically to go on and win the tournament anyway.

“I’m glad it is over. I don’t make excuses and I had to show up, if I was a footballer I would probably have missed this game but it is an individual sport so you have to turn up.”

O’Sullivan took the first frame with a break of 76 but Allen swept the next six frames, including breaks of 65, 115 and 85, to set up a semi-final clash against John Higgins or Ryan Day.
