Luton Town and Barnsley have been promoted to the Championship following Portsmouth’s 3-2 loss against Peterborough United.

Portsmouth began the evening four points behind their promotion rivals and needed at least a point to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Goals from Lee Tomlin and Ivan Toney put Peterborough in control, before Portsmouth hit back through Ben Close and Christian Burgess.

Toney struck his second of the night, though, with 15 minutes remaining to secure the win for Peterborough, and confirm Luton’s and Barnsley’s places in the second tier next season.

Luton and Barnsley are level on points with each other and still have the League One title to play for on the final day. Luton host 12th-placed Oxford United while Barnsley are away to 16th-placed Bristol Rovers.
