Kyle Edmund into Estoril Open quarter-final after victory over Alex De Minaur

Kyle Edmund is the first player to qualify for the quarter-final of the Estoril Open after a straight-sets victory over Australian youngster Alex De Minaur.

The British number one triumphed 6-2 7-5 to set up a tie against Pedro Sousa or Joao Sousa.

Edmund broke in the opening game before racing into a 4-1 lead.

De Minaur broke back but Edmund took the opening set 6-2.

After going up a break, Edmund saved three break points on the way to a 4-3 second-set lead.

De Minaur broke to make it 4-4 but, at 5-5, Edmund broke again and served out the match with a love game.

In Istanbul, British doubles player Dominic Inglot and partner Robert Lindstedt reached the quarter-final after a 7-6 6-1 victory over Roman Jebavy and Florin Mergea.
