Kyle Edmund has progressed to the second round of the French Open after beating Australian Alex De Minaur 6-2 6-4 6-3.

The British number one defeated the world number 105 earlier this month and repeated the feat to set up a second-round match against world number 45 Marton Fucsovics.

Edmund broke in the opening game and raced towards a 5-1 lead in the opening set. De Minaur saved a set point to hold serve but Edmund won the next game to love to take the opener.

De Minaur improved in the second set, with the pair sharing a break each on the way to 4-4, but Edmund won the next two to take control of the tie.

The 16th seed conceded just three points on serve in the third set and De Minaur sent the ball long for Edmund to win match point at the first attempt.
