Johanna Konta knocked out of Australian Open by Bernarda Pera
British number one Johanna Konta has suffered a shock defeat to American Bernarda Pera to exit the Australian Open in the second round.
The world number 123 won 6-4 7-5 to claim the biggest victory of her career.
Pera only entered the Australian Open as a lucky loser after losing in qualifying but held serve throughout the first set to take the lead.
Konta saved three match points at 3-5 in the second set before breaking to stay in the match at 5-5, but Pera took the next two games to seal the win.
Pera will meet 20th seed Barbora Strycova in the third round.
